I've been doing an online painting course called Dream.Love.Paint by the fabulous artist Dreama Tolle Perry. I love her vibrant palette and her fun and joyful technique. Here are two paintings I've done through the course:
I love portraits and Vermeer's Girl is one of my favorites. I painted this with a Grisaille (grey) underpainting and numerous glazes. Learned a lot with this one and want to do more portraits. It was interesting and fun to do and I'm happy with the result. I also discovered how very difficult it is to photograph a dark reflective surface, so sorry for the glare.
I've been enjoying taking a pastel class with Mary Beurgin this winter. She is not only a fabulous oil and pastel artist and teacher, she is super sweet! This is my second pastel painting. Done from a photo taken on Cape Cod last summer. I was up before everyone else to enjoy the morning stillness and this gorgeous view. Doing this piece brought me right back to that wonderful feeling.
We are staying with friends on Cape Cod this weekend in a wonderful old home to celebrate their 30th anniversary. The view of the bay that we awoke to is absolutely amazing! Can't wait to see sunset here!
I loved the way the light framed one young boy as he got a closer look at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, while the other boy sat back, equally enthralled. And I loved their caps.
Last summer I traveled to Provence, France and painted "en plein air" with a group of artists. It was a dream trip! We painted this lovely home on one of our last mornings before leaving. The woman that lives here wandered over to greet us and seemed pleased that we chose her home to paint, though I did not understand a word she said!
It's been a long winter. I like to buy flowers whenever it snows out to remind me that spring is coming. Painted this after our last snowfall last week. Enough already, it's time to melt.
